Etlingera elatior 'Red Torch'
A massive ginger producing long-lasting flower spikes up to 1m tall. Keep moist and well fed during growing season for optimal flowering. The bottom of the stems and underground rhizomes tend to be quite a dark red color. Flower buds are edible.
It prefers tropical or subtropical climate, or warm protected areas in temperate climate. Under a full sun to part shade. Grown in moist and well drained soil, rich in organic matter. Flowers are visible in the summer. It can reach 3 to 5 meters in height.
